Audrey, the Manager of the line, is one year
short of retirement age and although quite a stern and domineering
character she ticks off on her calendar her last year on the
line in hope of retiring to the Lake District.
She longs for days when orders are shipped, or when the mail
man delivers the wrong mail to the door, so she has to go
out and repost them to the correct buildings. Just something
different, something to set apart that day from the rest.
She also longs for Ian, a worker that she had a brief encounter
in her second year on the line. |
